A SMART SOLUTION
PREFABRICATED CHEMICAL STORAGE BUILDINGS
WHY ARE PREFABRICATED CHEMICAL STORAGE BUILDINGS NEEDED?
Sometimes referred to as chemical storage ‘lockers,’ ‘sheds,’ or even ‘prefabricated portable structures,’ these buildings adhere to important U.S. codes for storing flammable chemicals and other types of hazmat. They are pre-fabricated at the factory according to code requirements with all the installed electrical, fire suppression, and any other options ready to “plug and play” when it arrives at the site.
Chemical storage buildings became a solution in the early 1980s when the EPA began requiring flammable chemicals be stored in locations with secondary containment sumps and other safety features. These could be expensive and time consuming to build or retrofit into production settings.
A prefabricated chemical storage building allowed industries to safely store flammable liquids and remain within code compliance with their local fire, insurance, or code authorities.
Today, these buildings are used as an easy, prefabricated solution not only for storing drums or totes of flammable liquids, but also for storing corrosive chemicals and other hazardous materials such as batteries and waste. They can also be designed for use as mixing or dispensing rooms, laboratories, pump rooms, equipment housing, or testing facilities.
U.S. Chemical Storage buildings are sized to allow for flatbed transport anywhere in the U.S. or for export abroad. Modular solutions can be built if larger buildings are required. Dimensions for travel along the U.S. highway system are the only limitations of any single module.
The need is code-driven based on the chemical or materials being stored and the proximity to people, property, or the environment. The local “Authority Having Jurisdiction” (AHJ), code official, fire marshal, environmental health and safety professional, or insurance inspector could be any of the people that require the use of a chemical storage building to have your operations in compliance. It is important to adhere to their requests to avoid fines, safety violations, or insurance coverage suspensions.
However, these buildings can also be an easy solution, saving you valuable time, labor, and material coordination. In most cases, they can be built for less than a traditional building solution. We’re here to help.
WHAT ARE PREFABRICATED CHEMICAL STORAGE BUILDINGS?
Our buildings are “plug & play,” and all options arrive installed. When the building arrives at your site, you simply offload it, affix it down to the concrete pad you’ve prepared to our recommended specs, and hook up the utilities. You will also likely need to activate the dry-chem fire suppression system, install the grounding rod and attach the grounding wire. It’s really that simple.
It’s a technical and complicated product that doesn’t have to be difficult for you. That’s our goal. We ship buildings to businesses that are the leaders and innovators in their fields every day. We’ve created 5-piece modular buildings and world-class laboratories. We provided buildings to pharmaceutical companies during the pandemic and continually keep our military troops safe around the globe.
You may not purchase a building like this again. And we may never make a design exactly like it again. But that is what we do; build the tough stuff. We are proud to say we build the safest, highest quality chemical storage buildings in the world.
Keep your people, property, and planet safe with a U.S. Chemical Storage building solution.
