ELECTRICAL ACCESSORIES

Safely managing and maintaining a reliable power supply to your chemical storage building is of upmost importance. Providing electricity to the devices and units you need to operate will allow you to keep the integrity of your hazardous compounds high and increase production capacity.

Explosion Proof Electrical System Engineering

All electrical systems shall be UL listed and designed for Class I, Division I, Group D atmosphere, per Article 500 of NFPA-70. The electrical system shall be complete, including all necessary explosion proof and non-sparking equipment, rigid galvanized steel conduits and fittings, cast iron devices and threaded hubs, junction boxes and seal-offs.

Dry Chem and Load Center are located on right end walls, if facing front of building exterior. The natural vents and/or mechanical vents are opposite each other on end walls. Standard placement for AC units and Heaters are on end walls. All equipment locations are standard as describe above unless noted otherwise on per Customer.

Step down or up transformers and/or disconnect switches are available as an option and should be located near Load Center.

Factory Electrical Installation

US Chemical Storage Factory will install electrical items and run conduit. Conduit shall be fastened no closer than 6ft. and no farther than 36” from a junction box for every 10ft of pipe. Junction boxes, conduits and circuit breakers shall be properly sized by Engineering. Wiring and Breakers will be per Electrical Schematic Drawings based on NEC and Manufacturers recommendations. All equipment boxes and electronic devices mounted on exterior of building shall be weather proof for outdoor use. Distribution Panels will be labeled. Metal parts, which may become energized, are bonded.

Electrical Quality Assurance

Our Quality Assurance Team will perform visual inspections, Dielectric Strength, Continuity, Operational Tests and Polarity Checks and fill out reports at Factory. If test fails the fault is repaired and retested. After tests are passed information will be documented, dated and signed off. A copy of Electrical Inspection Report is scanned and a hard copy is placed in permanent file. Pictures are also taken of Electrical Inspection and Test.

    INTERIOR EXPLOSION PROOF DUPLEX OUTLET

    When storing chemicals that give off flammable vapors, gases, or combustible dust particles, US Chemical’s Explosion Proof Outlets maximize safety while preventing explosions through a number of unique features.

    These outlets prevent explosions by isolating the plug from hazardous fumes and gases before making a connection with the outlet. The twisting feature locks and isolates the plug to create an airtight attachment between plug and outlet. This ensures that sparking will not occur when the outlet begins drawing electricity, regardless of what combustable or flammable compound is present.

    Our NEMA compliant Explosion Proof Outlets are available in single or two gang dead end assembly and rated at 125 or 250 volts and 20 amperes.



    EXTERIOR NON-EXPLOSION PROOF DUPLEX OUTLET

    US Chemical’s Exterior Duplex Outlets provide a reliable, fully compliant solution. When you need a power source outside of a building not storing explosive hazardous materials.

    The weatherproof shield that goes over the outlet ensures the outlet is protected and will perform at all times, regardless of climatic changes or precipitation.



    ELECTRICAL LOAD CENTER WITH TRANSFORMER

    US Chemical Electrical Load Centers create a centralized location for electric panels and breakers, providing protection for all load bearing circuits. All of our load centers can be connected to a microcontroller that will switch critical systems to emergency power in the event of a power outage.

    These Load Centers can be designed to contain any explosion originating within its housing to prevent a greater explosion from occurring in the storage building. This feature dramatically increases worker safety and reducing inventory loss in the event of an emergency.

    Explosion Proof Load Centers are built to be used in locations that are hazardous due to flammable gases or vapors, combustible dust, easily ignitable fibers and debris. These circuit breakers protect appliances against over-current and short circuiting and has main ratings of 100 Amps to 225 Amps.

    Non-explosion proof load centers are designed to be used in chemical storage buildings that will not be used to store flammable, combustible, or ignitable chemicals. Outdoor and rainproof non-explosion proof load centers are available with main ratings between 60 Amps to 225 Amps and are capable of housing up to 42 circuit breakers.



    Exterior Wiring

    Exterior Wiring shall comply to general purpose weatherproof requirements utilizing NEMA 3R Power Distribution Load Center w/ standard 100 Amp Service, 60 Amp, Single Phase Main with eight (8) circuit breaker spaces. Load Center shall be 3ft min. away from any opening.

    Load Center and Amp Sizes mentioned above are subject to change w/ customer electrical design and load needs for building. When common alarm and control cabinets are required as options, construction should be a NEMA 4X design.



    Interior Wiring

    Interior wiring should have (1) all-threaded joints having 5 minimum full threads with ¾” per foot taper, (2) seal-offs where required at exterior wall penetrations, devices, appliances, equipment, and components, (3) no fittings between seal-offs and exterior wall, and (4) only THHN conductors rated 90 degree C minimum used with all conduits supported every 10ft max. and fastened within 3 ft of a junction box.



    Static Electricity Grounding System

    Our static electricity grounding system has one exterior grounding connection, one 10ft long 5/8” diameter copper-clad steel grounding rod, one No. 4 AWG copper conductor and grounding lugs. Interior grounding shall have copper wiring and lugs. For all US Chemical Storage Buildings except for Drum Lock style.

    On Drum Lock Buildings one 8ft long ½” diameter galvanized rod is used for exterior grounding.

    Customer has option of 10ft long interior mounted copper bus bar(s) mounted 48” off floor or as needed for special electrical grounding needs.



    Explosion Proof Receptacle

    Explosion proof receptacles are UL listed and rain tight, rated for Class I, Division 1, Groups C & D hazardous locations. Proper sealing against moisture is assured. Spring loaded receptacle cover closes when plug is removed to provide protection when not in use and the copper-free aluminum alloy resists corrosion.

    Single Receptacle accommodates one (1) electrical Appliance. Duplex receptacles accommodates two (2) electrical Appliances.

    Appropriate plugs are available as option, as directed by Customer, to connect to end of flexible power cable.

    Receptacles contain an integral switch that must be closed to energize the circuit. The design permits only an approved plug to be energized. To actuate the switch, the plug must be inserted and rotated clockwise approximately 45 degrees. The plug will lock into this position preventing accidental disengagement. To remove, simply turn the plug counterclockwise and pull straight out. Plugs and receptacles may be used where interchangeable bladed devices are needed in locations made hazardous by the presence of flammable gases or vapors, combustible dusts or easily ignitable fibers. Plugs serve to provide power for portable equipment in hazardous locations.



    DISTRIBUTION PANEL BOARD FOR GENERATOR

    Optional Distribution Panel Board is available for future generator use. The customer will provide generator connection, automatic trip switches, conduit, wiring and grounding. U.S. Chemical will size and install panel based on emergency load needs from customer. Enclosure will be NEMA 4X.



    EMERGENCY ELECTRICAL SHUTDOWN

    An optional Break Glass Shutdown can be installed on an exterior wall of any chemical storage building for emergency shut down of all electrical equipment operating inside the building such as exhaust fans, fan driven A/C and heating systems etc. The switch is labeled “ Emergency Shutoff Ventilation Fans and Electrical Systems."

    Push Button Operators are designed for Article 500 NEC. Meets Class I, Groups C & D, Class II, Groups C,E, and F, and Class III Hazardous locations.



    Junction Box - 6"x6"x4"

    U.S. Chemical Storage’s Non Explosion Proof Electrical Junction Box is a square box with dimensions of: 6"x6"x4". The junction box is mounted on the exterior of U.S. Chemical’s Storage Buildings. The Junction Box design is a square container with welded corner edges and used for electrical connections used to conceal electrical connections from tampering with or just corrosive environments. The 6”x6”x4 Junction Box is UL Listed and constructed from galvanized zinc material. The Junction Box is very useful when storing chemical inventory to prevent wiring from becoming exposed to hazardous environments. The Junction Box is a safe alternative to prevent electrical connections from becoming exposed to hazardous environments as well as being tampered with.



    Junction Box Explosion Proof

    U.S. Chemical Storage’s Explosion Proof Electrical Junction Box is a square box that is extremely strong and suitable for corrosive environments. Our Explosion Proof Junction Box is used for in areas that are hazardous due to the presence of hydrogen or gases and vapors of equivalent hazards found when storing chemical inventory. The junction box is mounted on the exterior of U.S. Chemical’s Storage Buildings. The explosion proof Junction Box design is a square container with welded corner edges and used for electrical connections used to conceal electrical connections from tampering with or just corrosive environments. The Explosion Proof Junction Box is UL Listed and constructed from extremely strong stainless steel material. The Junction Box is very useful when storing chemical inventory to prevent wiring from becoming exposed to hazardous environments. The Junction Box is very well a safe alternative to prevent electrical connections from becoming exposed to hazardous environments as well as being tampered with. Furthermore, wall bodies may be drill and tapped for conduit entries if needed.



    Non EP Interior/Exterior GFCI Duplex Receptacle

    In order to connect electrical equipment to gain alternating current to supply power to your chemical storage buildings a receptacle is needed. Our Non Explosion Proof GFCI Duplex receptacle can be used for either interior or exterior purposes. The Non Explosion Proof Duplex receptacle is weatherproof and protects personnel and individuals from shock hazards that can occur in electrical appliances and tools, especially in wet and damp locations. The Receptacle provides a duplex feature to allow for dual wiring situations. The color of the Non Explosion Proof GFCI Duplex Receptacle is ivory and is commercial grade for exceptional performance. The cover provides protection and safety from moisture and weathering elements. Our Non Explosion Proof GFCI Duplex receptacle features include: UL Listed, 20 amps, 125 VAC, LED safety features and CSA Certified.



    Non Explosion Proof Push-Button Switch

    Our Non-Explosion Proof Push-Button Switch is used for emergency situations where alarm sounds when engaged. The enclosure type is water tight, dust tight and corrosion resistant for those corrosion prone environments. The Non-Explosion Proof Push-Button Switch is especially useful when storing chemical inventory. The 22mm Red Push-Button switch maintained action is turn-to-release for maximum security. A chromium plated metal makes the Non Explosion Proof Push-Button Switch very durable and reliable. The Operator type on the Red Mushroom head design is non-illuminated. Additional Features Include: UL Listed, rated for 10Amps, 600 Voltage, NEMA 4/4X/13 enclosure.



    Non Explosion Proof Switch for Recirculating Fan

    Our Non Explosion Proof Switch is a silver stamped Aluminum cover to prevent dust, moisture and oil from entering, while powering a recirculating fan. The material is made from stamped aluminum and the construction is very strong and durable. US Chemical Storage’s Non explosion proof switch is “dry-tite” for superior protection and maximum reliability. Used for interior applications, the Non explosion Proof Switch has dimensions of, 2 13/16 Inches x 4 9/16 Inches and has one opening switch with spacers. The non-explosion Proof Switch’s qualifications are UL Listed and CSA Approved for maximum performance and reliability. Additional features include a 20amp, 1-pole switch for maximum performance to operate a recirculating fan.



    Non Explosion Proof Switch with Pilot Light for Mechanical Vent

    Our Non Explosion Proof Red Push-Button Switch with a Pilot Light is used for Mechanical Ventilation. The Non Explosion Proof Push-Button Switch is used in chemical storage areas to prevent arcing of an enclosed Chemical Storage Buildings from causing ignition of a hazardous atmosphere external to the Chemical Storage Building. When the Pilot light is on the Non Explosion Proof Switch is indicating the mechanical vent is activated. The Non Explosion Proof Switch with Pilot lighting is very durable and strong with a copper-free aluminum sealing enclosure and a stainless steel shaft and shaft bushings. Additional Features include: five pilot light colors available (red, green, amber, clear, blue), 600 VAC heavy duty voltage, one (1) or (2) push buttons, one (1) or two (2) number of pilot lights, Class 1, Divisions 1 & 2, groups B, C, D; Class II, Division 1, groups E, F, G; Class II, Division 2, Groups F, G; Class III, NEMA 3.



    OUTLET, 2-GANG, INTERIOR, EXPLOSION PROOF

    Our Explosion Proof 2-Gang Outlet is used for interior areas that are made hazardous by the presence of flammable vapors and gases or combustible dusts. The Explosion Proof 2-Gang outlet is also heavy duty and can be used in damp and corrosive areas as well as wherever portable electrical equipment is likely to be transferred from hazardous to nonhazardous areas. When storing chemical inventory it is critical that safety comes first and the explosion proof 2-Gang Outlet assures that safety is met when using portable electrical equipment such as compressors, tools, lighting systems, and similar devices. Standard finishes on the Explosion Proof 2-Gang outlet has a die-cast copper-free aluminum receptacle housing. To make connection the ENP plug must be full inserted, and then the plug is rotated, closing the circuit. As the rotation begins, the plug becomes locked in the receptacle and cannot be accidentally disengaged. The Explosion Proof 2- Gang Outlet is UL Listed and additional features include: 125Volts, 20Amps, and rated for Class 1, Division 1 & 2, Groups C & D; Class II, Division 1 & 2, Groups F, G; Class III Hazardous Locations.



    Outlet, Single, Interior, Explosion Proof

    Our Explosion Proof Outlet with Single Gang dead assembly is built with extremely strong construction. Our UL Listed Explosion-proof Single Outlet is designed for applications where areas are made hazardous by the presence of flammable vapors and gases or combustible dusts and wherever portable electrical equipment is likely to be transferred from hazardous to nonhazardous areas. The Explosion Proof Single Gang Outlet is used with portable electrical equipment such as compressors, tools, lighting systems and similar devices. The explosion Proof Single Gang Outlet is extremely durable and designed to be used in damp and corrosive areas.     Wall Mount Telephone

    US Chemical Storage is dedicated to providing compliance and protection. We offer a Wall-Mount Telephone for clean, hands-free telephone ideal for clean-room environments. The Wall-Mount Telephone is protected with a weatherproof Nema 4X enclosure for superior protection. The Enclosure is made from glass-reinforced polyester, with NEMA 4X rating and resists weather and most corrosives. Noncorrosive enclosures are aluminum with a durable polyurethane finish. The Wall mount telephone enables personnel to make calls from one room to another device. The Wall Mount Telephone also features a full keypad with push buttons for user compatibility, 2 auto-dial buttons, auto answer, and a smooth front panel, with a gray color finish and speakerphone accessibility.
