Ventilation Options for Your Storage Building

Maintaining good airflow is important for safe chemical storage. Chemical storage ventilation basically consists of moving air in and out of your chemical storage building to remove harmful fumes, vapors, and dusts. Fully customizable and compliant passive or forced mechanical ventilation options from U.S. Chemical Storage offer full control of the volume and frequency of air changes inside your hazardous material building. Explosion-proof, non-explosion-proof, and corrosion-resistant options are available.

U.S. Chemical Can Assist You With Chemical Storage Ventilation

At U.S. Chemical Storage, we don’t expect you to be an expert in ventilation calculations. The important things we need to know is what you’re storing within our building, how much of it you are storing, and what sort of other constraints you may have for building use. Our engineering team can calculate the necessary airflow rates necessary with you. You are always welcome to contact us.

Emergency Safety Showers and Eyewash Equipment

Workplace emergencies occur every day across a wide variety of industries. In environments where injuries come because of chemical splashes, spillage or burns, the risk of an accident is even greater. We supply a wide range of emergency safety showers and eye/face wash equipment to ensure your workforce receives immediate and proper treatment if an incident occurs.

Exhaust Fan Options for Your Storage Building

Maintaining good airflow is important for safe chemical storage. A chemical storage exhaust fan will help remove harmful fumes, vapors, and dust within your chemical storage building. Our engineers can calculate the right fan for adequate airflow and ventilation within your chemical storage building. Be sure to communicate clearly with your U.S. Chemical Storage Technical Sales Engineer about the types of chemicals and volume you’ll be storing, as well as if the building needs to be an occupancy building for workers or not. This information can help narrow down the correct chemical storage exhaust fan options for your storage building.

Explosion Proof Exhaust Fans

An explosion proof exhaust fan system consists of an enclosed, explosion proof motor housed inside an exterior mounted enclosure for ventilation and fume removal. Explosion proof exhaust fans from U.S. Chemical Storage are completely enclosed for full explosion proof protection. They are designed to keep your chemical storage protected from harmful vapors and fumes. The interior exhaust vent is located within 12 inches of the floor for the extraction of heavier than air vapors. Exhaust fans are available in standard or high-capacity models. Your explosion proof exhaust fan system can be activated by a switch or can be wired for continuous operation

Heating Options for Your Storage Building

When storing chemicals that require a constant temperature at or above 40°F, our buildings provide unmatched security and safety for workers and materials. Depending on your needs, we offer explosion proof and non-explosion proof chemical storage heating systems, including convection and forced air heaters. In addition to temperature-controlled buildings, U.S. Chemical Storage heating options offer a variety of accessories such as R30 insulation or higher, insulated personnel and roll-up doors. Completely customizable construction allows you to have a temperature-controlled hazmat chemical storage building that meets any chemical storage regulation.

Cooling Options for Your Storage Building

We offer a full range of air conditioner and refrigeration options for your chemical storage building. Including a cooling option within one of our buildings allows for optimum temperature control while storing your flammables, combustibles, or other hazardous materials safely. These temperature-controlled rooms save you time and money by using equipment that constantly maintains temperatures ranging from 60° to 70°F or colder. Our units help maintain the integrity of your expensive chemicals and hazardous materials over long periods of time.

We offer two types of air conditioners, each are available in regular and explosion-proof models:

  • A standard AC will keep the interior about 20°F below outside temperatures.
  • A higher capacity AC is available that can keep the interior as low as 65°F (+/- 5°F).
Refrigeration units are available for maintaining constant temperatures below 60°. If you have any questions about our cooling capabilities, feel free to Contact us using the easy question form at left.

Lighting the Way

When working with hazardous materials, it is crucial to have durable, efficient lighting in each part of your chemical storage building. Every U.S. Chemical Storage lighting fixture is manufactured to guarantee visibility and safety. We offer a wide variety of explosion proof and non-explosion proof lighting options for storage buildings. Light fixture placement is based on chemical storage building size, mounting height of light fixture and photometrics measured in lumens per fixture. UL Listed and factory sealed fixtures meet requirements as follows:
  • Class I, Div. 1 & 2, Groups C and D Class I, Zones 1 & 2, Groups llB, llA
  • Class II, Div. 1 & 2, Groups E,F,G
  • Class III, Div. 1 & 2
  • Suitable for wet locations
  • Marine
  • NEMA 3, 4, 4X

Electrical Accessories to Keep You Powered On

U.S. Chemical provides several electrical accessories to help safely manage and maintain a reliable power supply to your chemical storage building. Providing electricity to the devices and units you need to operate keeps the integrity of your hazardous compounds high and increases production capacity.

Factory Electrical Installation

During manufacturing, our experienced team installs electrical items and runs conduit. We ensure junction boxes, conduits and circuit breakers are properly sized by engineering, and wiring and breakers are per electrical schematic drawings based on NEC and manufacturers recommendations. All equipment boxes, electrical accessories, and electronic devices mounted on exterior of building are rated for outdoor use. Distribution panels are always labeled and any metal parts which may become energized are bonded.

Electrical Quality Assurance

The U.S. Chemical Storage quality assurance team performs visual inspections, dielectric strength, continuity, operational tests and polarity checks at the factory. The fault is repaired and retested if a test fails. After all tests are passed, information is documented, dated, and signed off. Images and inspection reports are kept on file. Any third-party inspections, when required, are performed by state approved agencies.

Access Ramps

Access ramps are available with all U.S. Chemical Storage buildings to facilitate greater accessibility when loading or unloading chemicals. They have leveling feet and can be fitted with safety rails or raised edges, as well as non-slip surfaces. Adjustments in width and length can be made to allow larger containers to be loaded with ease. All ramps for U.S. Chemical storage buildings are highly durable and customizable to your needs. Ramps align directly to our buildings, allowing you to move items into your building quickly and easily with a hand cart or dolly.

Protection from Explosions

Explosion Relief Panels

As a rule, a buildup of vapors from Class 1A and 1B Flammables brings the risk of an explosion. If the internal gas pressure of a building rises to 20 psf, the explosion relief panel quickly opens to release the heat and gas outside. Our panels help minimize risks of explosions and can be added to both fire-rated and non-fire-rated buildings. They are available in bottom or top hinged.
